EmmausRoadEmmaus Road (A Christ Centered Journey Towards Recovery)

We recognize that everyone has some degree of pain in their lives. We tend to respond to that pain in ways that develop/produce unhealthy patterns of thinking and of behavior. For those who hurt, Trinity Community Church offers a safe environment to experience and embrace the power and grace of God. Through this renewed relationship, we are set free from the hurts, habits and hang-ups that hinder our spiritual growth.

Based on the biblical truth that we need each other in order to grow spiritually and emotionally, we’ve developed our recovery program using the Celebrate Recovery material. This program is built around small group interaction and the fellowship of a caring community. The Bible affirms that we don’t get well by ourselves; we need one another. Through fellowship and accountability, we can experience wholeness together.

Emmaus Road meets at Trinity Community Church (234 Walpole Street Norwood, MA) on Thursday nights. The program runs from 7:00pm until 9:00pm weekly (please see calendar dates). Evenings begin with brief worship and prayer followed by either a teaching or testimony time. The teachings are based on the 12-steps and their biblical principles. The large group closes by reading the Serenity Prayer aloud together. We then break into smaller groups divided by gender for discussion of the evening’s topic. Each evening ends with a light snack, coffee, and personal interaction.

Who is this journey for?
This journey is for any adult (18 and over) of any background who recognizes any of these in their life:

Perfectionism Anxiety
Control Issues Impulsiveness
Victimization Shame
Chemical Dependence Depression
Fear of Rejection Unworthiness

Trinity Community church has chosen to utilize the Celebrate Recovery material for three reasons:

1. Celebrate Recovery has proven to be a very successful program for those who have embraced the process.
2. Groups are led by real people who have personally experienced the recovery process themselves.
3. Most importantly, Christ is the “Higher Power.” This program doesn’t heal people; rather, it introduces people to The Healer and a process by which people may experience Him in a very personal and powerful way.

Emmaus Road meetings meet on Thursdays at 7:00pm in the downstairs library at Trinity Community Church.
